Friday was the final day of the Orange Conference. It is mind-boggling to realize that 4000 children's staff and volunteers paid hundreds of dollars to travel to and attend a conference to better help them reach and communicate to children. That gives me great hope!
We were sitting in the tenth row (or so) on Friday. So I took a picture looking behind us. 4000 people! To learn better how to minister to children. Thank You, God, for people who love to work with kids!!
They honored a volunteer. He is 86 years old and has taught 4th grade boys Sunday School for 60 years! It brought tears to my eyes as I thought of Howard Statler (already in heaven) and Bill Parsons (who would still work with children if he were able). What I loved about this man's story is that his church decided to make some changes to better reach children - an entirely new philosophy and curriculum, and he was excited to learn it and join in! I love that!!
We were offered to get "bumped" on our final flight. They would give us a free hotel and two free flights anywhere in the US to use in the next year, but we wouldn't get back in town on Saturday before our daughter's recital - so that was "out." I hope its a good recital! :)
